Technology is a fundamental aspect to everyday life and evolves at a rapid pace. We want the pupils of the Doveshell federation to be technologically ready and able to adapt to the world that they will live in. This will be achieved by opportunities in the following areas: digital literacy, media and computer sciences. This will also be supplemented by a thorough digital safety programme to ensure they remain protected at all times.
Our children begin their computing journey in the EYFS. Although technology is no longer an area of learning, we recognise that our children live in a digital world and as such need to develop their awareness of, and skills with, technology.
This is achieved through opportunities such as:
- taking a photograph using a camera or i-pad
- searching for information on the internet with an adult
- playing and restarting games on the interactive whiteboard
- using a Beebot to understand and create a simple algorithm
- watching a video clip pressing play or pause
